Oyster drill
This is a predominantly subtidal species but can be found on the lowest parts of a sheltered rocky shore in summer.
Alliums
Garlicky, grassy, with a hint of caramel, these belong to the pungent onion family including: onions, garlic, leeks, shallots, and spring onions.
River lamprey
The river lamprey is a primitive, jawless fish, with a round, sucker-mouth which it uses to attach to other fish to feed from them. Adults live in the sea and return to freshwater to spawn.
House sparrow
The house sparrow is a familiar, streaky brown bird of towns, parks and gardens. Males sport a grey cap and black bib, the size of which indicates their status.
Spiny squat lobster
A bizarre half lobster/half crab, this squat lobster is one of the true stunners of the rocky shore!
