Bake with Lucie - July 2025

Hello everyone, happy July! I hope you have all had a wonderful June and had a lovely time baking lots of delicious recipes. I have got three more incredibly seasonal recipes for you all this month. My four main ingredients are the seasonal ones and they are simply perfect for July. This month’s seasonal produce are tomatoes and bell peppers for recipe one, cherries for recipe two and rhubarb for recipe three. All delicious ingredients and all perfect for any summer recipe. So let’s get started.

My first recipe is my multi-functional roasted tomato, roasted red pepper and roasted onion sauce which can be stirred through pasta, used as a pizza base or even to fill homemade ravioli. This sauce can be made in advance and lasts for up to five days in the fridge. It can even be frozen which makes pasta night even easier.

My second recipe is my delicious cherry clafoutis. This pudding is truly one of my family's favourites and only takes 45 minutes to make and bake which means it is a great last-minute pudding. This pudding is great served with ice cream or cream or just enjoyed on its own with a cup of tea.

My third recipe this month is again such a winner in our home and so delicious too. It is my rhubarb and orange compote with my maple pecan crisp. These recipes are regulars in our home and can be used for all sorts. We like to simply serve them with yoghurt or ice cream and enjoy but you can use the compote as a filling for pies or crumbles and the crisp is delicious simply sprinkled over a fruit salad. The added ingredient of chocolate sauce to the crisp makes this recipe even more delicious.

I really hope you have a wonderful time making all of my recipes and I hope you have an even lovelier time eating them. See you all in August!

Hi, I’m Lucie and it’s so very lovely to meet you. I’m your food and cookery baker, maker and writer and I love creating recipes that are new, exciting, seasonal and made with home grown ingredients for you all. I am 23 years old and I live in Hampshire with my lovely mum and our beautiful cats.

During my childhood I was brought up around food as my mum was a cookery teacher, (now French teacher), for schools and as soon as I was able, I had a wooden spoon in my hands. Me and my mum have always been close and cooking with her is one of my favourite things. My dad was a very good cook too but he sadly passed away from dementia when I was 8 years old. I have 2 sisters but they weren’t too interested in cooking so me and mum would spend hours in the kitchen baking and creating together.

Still to this day me and mum spend a good few hours every week shopping for ingredients and then cooking delicious things together. I think time spent cooking as a family is really important, it is wonderful to simply spend time with the ones you love and for an opportunity to develop new skills. I am part Scottish and Italian so home cooked food is a massive part of my family.
