Ingredients - makes 750ml

700g blackberries

300g pears; weigh after you have peeled and cored

1kg jam sugar with added pectin

Knob of butter

Method 

To make this delicious jam, place a saucer in the freezer and sterilise some jam jars. Now peel, core and chunk the pear into small pieces and place in a saucepan with the blackberries, jam sugar and 3 tbsp water. Mix the fruit and sugar together and then place over a medium heat and stir until the sugar has dissolved. 

Bring to a boil and allow to bubble away for a few minutes before testing a teaspoon of jam on the saucer. If it wrinkles up then jam is done, if not then continue to bubble away for two more minutes and test again. Once the jam is done, mix a knob of butter into the jam and then divide between sterilised jars. Seal and label and allow to completely go cold then enjoy.
